Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
Waveward ("Waveward", "we", "us") operates the tools for Audacity project files at aup4.aivismonitor.com. This policy explains what information we do and do not collect when you use the site. By using Waveward you agree to this policy.
Waveward is operated by Lei Wang, an individual developer and the data controller for the limited information Waveward collects directly. For privacy enquiries or requests, contact vertrigr@gmail.com.
Your Audacity projects never leave your device
Waveward is built to be local-first. When you open, play, export, recover or downgrade an .aup4, .aup3 or .aup project, the file — and, for an .aup, the block files in its _data folder — is read and processed entirely inside your browser using the File API and a Web Worker. The contents of your project — its audio, tracks, clips, track and clip names, labels, file names and project history — are never uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored on our servers. Files you export (WAV, MP3, a rebuilt or downgraded project) are created in your browser and saved straight to your device. Once a project is open you can disconnect from the network and keep playing it, exporting the mix as WAV and downgrading it. Two things come from this site and need the connection: the reader itself, downloaded the first time you open a project, and the MP3 encoder, downloaded the first time you export an MP3.
Information we do collect
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymised usage (for example which pages are visited, approximate region, browser, and device type). This never includes the contents of your Audacity project.
- License activation. If you activate a Waveward Pro license, only the license key you paste is sent to our server to be verified with our payment provider. No part of your project is sent.
- Payment & identity data. Purchases made through the existing Creem checkout are handled by Creem, acting as the merchant of record, together with its identity-verification provider, Sumsub. If you choose the Waffo Pancake checkout, Waffo Pancake processes the billing and payment information you provide for that transaction under its privacy policy. Payment card details and any identity documents requested by a provider are supplied directly to that provider; Waveward does not store full card details or identity documents. No project content is sent to either payment provider.
- License delivery for Waffo Pancake purchases. If you pay through a Waffo Pancake checkout, Waffo sends us your email address and the order's id, amount and status so that we can issue your license key. We keep them with the key in our license database (hosted by Upstash) for as long as the license exists, and email the key to you through our email provider, Resend. To count a key's activations, the page sends a random identifier it creates for your browser along with the key; it identifies nothing else.
- Checkout reminders. If you begin a Waveward Pro checkout, enter your email address on Creem's payment page, and leave without completing the purchase, Creem may send a small number of reminder emails about that checkout. This uses only the email you entered on Creem's own page — Waveward never sees it — and every reminder includes an unsubscribe link.
- Approximate region for pricing. To decide whether to show a regional purchasing-power discount, the page reads the country our hosting provider infers from your IP address. Only the two-letter country code is used, in your browser, and it is not stored.
- Support correspondence. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message, and keep it only to answer you.
Cookies
We use cookies only for the analytics described above. If you visit from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we ask before loading Google Analytics and load nothing if you decline; elsewhere it loads on your first visit. You can change that choice here at any time, and you can block or delete these cookies in your browser without affecting the core tools, which run locally.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share the limited data above only with the service providers that make the site work — Google for analytics, and the payment and verification providers used for your transaction: Creem/Sumsub, or Waffo Pancake when you choose its checkout — together with Upstash and Resend, which store and deliver the license key of a Waffo purchase. Sharing is limited to what is needed for those functions or required by law; it never includes the contents of your projects.
Data retention
Because your projects are never uploaded, we have nothing to retain about their contents. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.
Your rights
You may contact us to ask what information we hold about you, to request correction or deletion, or to raise a privacy concern. For payment or identity data held by Creem, Sumsub or Waffo Pancake, please also refer to the privacy policy of the provider that handled your transaction.
Children
Waveward is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
